Everything will now be on my main blog: Musings of Motherhood.

I hope you will follow my motherhood adventures of having 3 children! I honestly never thought I'd have 3 beautiful kiddos!

And to end Kimber's pregnancy blog on a good note, her birth experience was ten times better than my other two. My c-section operation was actually enjoyable, if I can say that about a surgery. I had a great team in the room, a fabulous OB, a fantastic nurse as her right hand woman, a great labor/delivery nurse, and one hilarious anesthesiologist! We listened to one of my favorite radio stations and while getting my spinal, Prince's "When the Doves Cry" was on! LOL!

My recovery has been super fast, even with have my tubes tied. It has been the perfect ending to such a rough pregnancy. And last week, at my one week check up, I was only 5 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! ;) I can't complain! People have commented that I should be resting more, that I just had major abdominal surgery, yada yada yada. Well, yes, that's true. However, I've felt great, except for some lingering pain from my tubes being cut.

Kimber is absolutely a perfect baby. She eats great and she sleeps incredibly (3-5 hour intervals at night). She loves to be cuddled, which is perfect for this family! Josh and Joey have definitely taken to her and they love to kiss her head and hold her and feed her. If I can only get them to change her diaper! ;) Our dogs, well mainly Gus, our German Shorthair, adore her. Gus is pretty much always near her. So I will end this blog with one of my most favorite pictures of her and Gus! Please follow our adventures on my main blog!

Blessings!

Kimber's First Photo Shoot!

On Thursday, December 3, we took Kimber to have her picture taken by my very good friend Natasha Hance. I've made it past 36 weeks!

My goal is to make it to 38. Just one more week. That way David can get his hunting trip in that he's been planning since the beginning of the year. As much joy and excitement Kimber's arrival is, I am the type of person who will feel horrible if David doesn't get a November hunting trip in. I truly feel that he needs a little break before Kimber comes to become refresh and renewed. This weekend is my chance for a break.

This weekend is the Cub Scout Family Camp Out. I wish I was able to go, but there was no way I could sleep on a mat or air mattress with how uncomfortable I have been. So, David, Tiger Scout Assistant Den Leader, took both boys. I got to attend a beautiful baby shower for a good friend of mine who's expecting a little boy in January. And I got to sleep and lay in bed without any distractions (besides the dogs).

So, do we have one more week left in us?? We shall see...

36 Weeks, 2 Days... OMG!

I'm sitting in uncharted territory.

I haven't made it this far in a pregnancy. Josh was born at 36, Joey was born at 34.

Well, Kimber tried to come at 34. On 10/25, I started contracting every 5 minutes, and did so until I finally made it to the hospital and spent the night hooked up to the monitors and I was given two rounds of Terbutaline. Needless to say, David did not stay the night with me. I am mean, MEAN, MEAN when I'm on Terb. That's what was given to me when I was into pre-term with Josh and it was not a pleasant time. The next morning, they sent me home on the oral med of Terb, and I lasted a week on it. I just couldn't take it anymore and I was yelling at the boys for no reason... it was just so bad. So, I lasted a week on the Terb.

And then this past Thursday, at almost 36 weeks, I was back in the hospital around midnight, contracting every 5 once again. I was only dilated to 1cm, which wasn't enough to go ahead and do anything. My doctor had wanted me to do the Terb shots again, and I refused. So, we tried another oral medication for the night, Procardia. Well, the contractions didn't let up, so I went back again on Saturday morning, at exactly 36 weeks. And guess what? I haven't dialated anymore. So, the doctor on call, called in a script for the Procardia, since I'm refusing Terb completely orally. I went ahead and gave in for a shot, and it helped for 30 minutes, but the contractions started up a bit.

I didn't want to take anymore medications, but my body needs a rest. My uterus is so tired and so worn out. I'm not sleeping, even with Ambien to help. I go back on Wednesday to see my doc, and I'm hoping for some answers. My uterus is just pissed off, to put it bluntly. I am trying my hardest to suck it up, but I just can't anymore.

So, as a recap...

We found out I was preggo on April Fool's Day. A week later, I had to start taking Progesterone shots (given daily by my adoring husband). Then I lost a good amount of weight, and Kimber became growth restricted, a.k.a. interuterine growth restriction IUGR. So I was put on modified bedrest.

Then my depression hit again. Then after only gaining maybe 10 pounds finally by around 29 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. We tried maybe 3 weeks of oral medication to help control my levels, and that failed. So I've been on insulin shots for 3 weeks. Then in and out of the hospital 3 times...

I just can't take much more. I feel like I can't be the mommy and the wife that I want to be. I do know and have faith that this is all going to worth it to see my sweet baby girl and hear her first cries and as wrong as it sounds, see her "girl parts" so I know this is not a dream! And I can't wait to see the expression on David's face when he meets his daughter for the first time and I can't wait for the boys to meet their baby sister. Our family will finally be complete.

I'm just needing some prayers for strength. Can ya help a preggo out??

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://schmidtbaby3.blogspot.com/2009/11/36-weeks-2-days-omg.html' title='36 Weeks, 2 Days... I'm guilty of not-blogging regularly about Kimber. But hey, it's only been two weeks...

Gestational diabetes (a.k.a. in our house "baby-chuga-beetees") sucks. The medicine that I'm on has made my levels drop to 48 for two days in a row now around 11am. And my levels are still jumping all over the place. I've tried taking it in the morning, and as of tomorrow, I will be taking it at night so if I do bottom out this next week, I'll be at home and not driving. That was mine and David's fear is that I would bottom out while driving and get in an accident. So, I'll take it right before I eat dinner, and then if I bottom out it should be around 8-9pm when I'm at home and David can be here in case I need him (except for the days he's on shift, of course). So no driving for me after I take it now until I go back next Wednesday.

My weight is doing good. Kimber has grown a lot and is no longer considered "growth restricted." We haven't been able to get any good face shots at the sonos because she is head down and seriously like about to fall-out, gross I know, but she is. Her feet are killing my ribs when I sit down and I'm having tons of contractions. This past weekend, mainly Sunday, I was having a contraction every 30 minutes for about 5 to 6 hours. It sucked!!!!!

But we're hanging in there. I'm hoping because of my baby-chuga-beetees that we'll be able to do the c-section on the Monday before Thanksgiving. That's my hope, so we'll see in a couple weeks what my doc wants to do. Once I pass 34 weeks, I'll be home free in my book. I had Josh, my first, at 36 weeks and Joey, my second, at 34.

To whoever reads this, please stay healthy. H1N1 is a non-pregnancy friendly flu bug to have! Praise the Lord, despite how exposed that I've been to it in my office, I've remained healthy except for a slight viral infection I had about two weeks ago!

Blessings!

29 Weeks, 4 Days

Well, we can now officially add gestational diabetes to the pregnancy score card. I had failed my one hour glucose test last week, and then my nurse that I work with administered my 3 hour glucose yesterday, which I then failed on all levels except my fasting.

Basically, today's appointment wasn't all that great. I lost two pounds. And now have friggin' gestational diabetes. Boo.

So, what does this all mean for me and Kimber? Well, because I'm losing weight, again, my doc is not worried about my diet that much. They gave me a glucometer and I am to test my levels first thing when I wake up in the morning, before I eat a snack and a meal, and an hour or two hours after that snack/meal. Gunna be a lot of finger poking and arm poking for the next week. My doc said that she will review my levels and decide from there whether or not to put me on medication (i.e. an oral insulin type thing or the insulin shots).

Also, at my appointment last Monday, we decided it would be best for me to be put back on Zoloft, my antidepressant. I have suffered from depression off and on for almost 10 years now. Part of my weight issues are attributed to my depression. I have been trying to deal with a lot of family things and work things and I saw the signs my depression was coming back. So hopefully with the Zoloft on board, things will get better.

Doc gave me some Ambien to help me sleep at night since Kimber will only let me sleep for a good full two hours then it's tossing and turning and flipping to where I cannot get a good amount of sleep to help me function during the day.

There's the update. Wish I had better news. Just start praying that Kimber doesn't break my water from moving so daggone much and sitting so low.

Sono pic from 09/09/09, 27 Weeks, 4 Days

Isn't she beautiful!?!?

27 Weeks, 4 Days, or am I???

Weight Gain: Still only 7 pounds. Nothin's changed in a week.

I had another sono today to measure sweet girl. She looks incredible!! Such a sweet little nose and chunky-unky cheeks!!! Doc isn't going to put me on bedrest, which is the other good news! Just have to continue doing what I've been doing. (Certainly considering stuff going on at the office right now. Me on bedrest would be a very bad thing.)

However, Kimber is consistently measuring a week and a half behind my dates. So Doc is wondering if there was like a delayed conception, so to speak. So, if that's the case, my dates are wrong and she's in the 50th percentile, and we're looking at December 14. Now, if my dates are right (which I'm positive they are), we just have a small one and I have to eat more. And more. And more. I honestly don't know how much more I can shovel at times though!

So, I'll continue to go back once a week because of my contractions and luckily we can use the sono machines there to make sure my cervix isn't going anywhere, so I don't have to have an "exam" at every visit.

We're looking at a c-section the Monday before Thanksgiving or two weeks after that. Depending on how Kimber's growing and everything! Exciting times! Now, if we can get the nursery done! We've painted. Well, I say we, but that really means David, super daddy! And we just need to pick out the flooring and do some quarter round molding for the corners and put all of Kimber's stuff in! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I'll post sono pics tomorrow!

26 Weeks, 4 Days a.k.a. "I Get So Emotional, Baby"

Weight Gain: 7 pounds from two weeks ago
Score: Emotions 100, Me 0

I went to see doc today. Good news is I'm up 7 pounds from two weeks ago. We did a quick scan to check the amniotic fluid and the pressure in the umbilical cord and things are looking ok. We'll do a full sono, measuring Kimber and everything, next Wednesday.

I'm happy that I've gained weight. I've been as compliant as I can be on partial bed rest. Things at the office are going well since I've been training a new person (a.k.a Dr. K's next door neighbor/best friend). It's nice having her in the office and I'm getting more done and can concentrate on all the wrong things our billing company are doing.

I just have to say, however, those women who say how much they love being pregnant, always are happy and joyful, and how every woman should enjoy their pregnancy and yada, yada, yada are FULL OF CRAP.

Like all pregnancies, all three of mine have been different. This one is by far the toughest. I have done the best I can by trying to be happy throughout the pregnancy and trying to keep my emotions under control. Tonight, I cracked under pressure.

I'm completely uncomfortable. Kimber, God bless her, just won't stop moving. Feeling her move is INCREDIBLE, but it just hurts so much. She sits on my sciatic nerve constantly. The round ligament pain keeps me up all night (including Kimber flip turning). And I'm not kidding. She flip turns all the time. Every week I'm in the doc's office, she's flipped. So as of today, she's breech.

My emotions got the best of me and I blew up at the boys. I feel horrible, but something's gotta give. Josh leaves his dirty clothes all over the house. He whines and complains when we have him do simple tasks, such as feeding the dogs or helping clear the table after dinner. Joey leaves his toys all over the floor and I trip on'm. Which right now, is not a very safe thing since I can't see the little things until I step on'm. So, needless to say, the boys got an earful tonight. I just couldn't keep it in... I'm just waiting for the mother of the year award to be dropped at the front door, certainly since last week I completely forgot about Joey at our daycare's house...

Anyway, I'm done for tonight. It is time for me to attempt to sleep. I don't sleep much anymore. :(

24 Weeks, 4 Days

Weight Gain: 10 pounds from lowest pregnancy weight.

Kimber's Estimated Weight: 1lb, 2 oz ...... up from 10oz, four weeks ago

Kimber's Percentage: <3% ...... down from 4%, four weeks ago

So what does this all mean? A couple things:

1. I need to seriously increase my calorie intake, which kinda freaks me out. My eating habits over the past two to three years have improved ten fold, so eating a lot of fried, greasy, high calorie food freaks me out. It's not necessarily an issue with me not wanting to gain weight, I know what I should be gaining. And it's not an issue with me freaking out about losing weight after she's born. I just don't have the taste buds for that kind of food. I crave fruit, mainly peaches and grapefruits. I crave sauted onions. I crave Special K Strawberry cereal. The high calorie junk food, I just don't like to eat!

2. The calories I AM eating, I'm burning faster than I can put in my mouth and Kimber's just not getting enough. Granted, she's gaining weight, but it's not enough and her growth percentage has dropped.

3. I have been warned like you would not believe by my OB and staff that if Kimber's growth percentage drops or doesn't change, I will be put on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy.

4. For the next three weeks, I will see my OB every Wednesday. In the meantime, I am allowed to work, however, I have to come home for lunch (not a big deal) and eat and lay down. Once I am off work, I am pretty much chained to the couch or my bed. No more nesting. Period.

I cried. I cried like a silly hormonal baby. I don't want to go on bedrest because that means some really big $$$$ woes and emotional woes for me and the boys. Joshy understands what is going on, Joey doesn't.

Luckily for Joey, we have him in a great in-home daycare 5 days a week, and he starts his speech therapy program through the school district and will go Mondays and Wednesdays. So, he'll be on a set schedule. I'm trying very hard to not just sit here and have a pity party, but it is so hard. If this was my first or second, I'd be ok. But I'm working full-time and need to be a mommy and wife full-time right now as well. Being limited in my activity is going to be very hard for me. Those who know me well understand this. I am constantly on the go. I need a lot of prayers right now.

So, last, but not least, here is our sweet Kimber. It's obvious from her pic four weeks ago to today's, that she's gained some weight. Her cheeks are filling out so beautifully. It almost reminds me of Joey's cheeks. She definitely has the Schmidt nose!

I just need prayers for the above said stuff and some other stuff going on. We will be able to tell what we're having as long as we can get baby to cooperate. (I've already had some talks with baby about making sure its legs are wide open!)

As I'm typing, baby is kicking up a storm! I wish David was able to feel baby! Everytime we try, baby stops moving! But Joshy, my 6 1/2 year old, got to feel baby yesterday, and he thought it was super cool. He says he remembers me being pregnant with Joey, but not much more than that, except for calling my belly a tortilla. Yes, that's right. A tortilla. Big ol' white, round belly with all my freckles, dark and light! SO observant for the then 3 1/2 year old!

So, on that note of food, I think I'm going to go search for something to eat...

18 Weeks, 4 Days, Plus 2 Pounds!

I finally gained some weight! Whoo-hoo!

Nausea and dry heaving completely out of the way... I am feeling so much better! Cravings this pregnancy range from saute/grilled onions to fried onions, to fruit, to (as of yesterday) cole slaw from Lee's BBQ in Haslet. Fruit is still a big craving too.

I still have not gained any weight, even the weight I lost first trimester, despite me eating a little more and eating some more high calorie foods. My back is definitely giving me more problems than anything else. It just gets worse each pregnancy, so maybe this is a good thing that this will be our last kiddo and a good thing that we're having another c-section. I don't think my back could take labor and pushing with the stenosis and the pinched sciatic nerve.

I have, what I think, is a super cute baby belly now. I need to have David take a picture of the belly!!

I go back to the doc this Wednesday for my weight check, and will probably get yelled at for something I can't really control right now. (Not really yelled at, but I know my OBs office first professionally and now personally due to working at a pediatric office and we refer patients back and forth... so they like to give me a hard time.) And then the awaited day, as long as baby cooperates, July 22 for our last big SONO!!! Hopefully we'll see what baby is!

But I'm feeling baby kick a lot more, which is super cool!

16 weeks and 4 days!

I had my 16 week appointment today and went over past medical history and family history. It went a lot faster since I don't know my family med history since I'm adopted. I still haven't gained any weight, even the few pounds I lost first trimester. They're starting to get worried, since by this time I should have gained at least 8-9 pounds. So they're having me come back in two weeks for a weight check. And told me I have to start protein shakes three times a day (which normally I'm compliant, but I probably will start with one or two).

We did a quick sono on a crappy machine so I still wasn't able to get a good view of what we're having. Did see something that looks like a boy part, but honestly, the nurse practioner and I couldn't tell. (She's not supposed to tell me what we're having anyway at 16 weeks, certainly from the crappy sono machine.) But heart beat is great and baby's moovin' and groovin'! Also, my blood testing for down's syndrome and other abnormalities came back so completely normal!

The next big sono is set for July 22!! We'll still play it by ear depending on how baby's doing. I'm hoping and praying to make it to 38 weeks, since that seems to be a rarity with my pregnancies.

Baby didn't quite cooperate with pictures yesterday so we could get a sneak peak at "what's growing." Saw something very interesting, looking like a boy part with the baby's legs closed, but Dr. Moser said it could be a swollen girl part. It was just exciting enough for me to have a 3D/4D sonogram, since I didn't get to have that with the boys! Here are some pictures from yesterday!

Here is the face shot! I think it already looks like a Schmidt! For some reason, part of the arm (at the elbow) disappeared in the shot! But Baby's got a beautiful face!

Now this picture was fascinating to me! If you look closely, you'll see Baby's leg and knee bent. You'll see the cord wrapped around its thigh! The cord wraps around the thigh, up his chest, and then up around its right shoulder!

I just love the baby belly!!!

It was great appointment! And I still haven't gained any weight! BONUS! I go back in two/three weeks to see the nurse practitioner or Dr. Moser's PA, then back at twenty weeks for another awesome big sono! Definitely by then, we'll be able to see what we're having!

Will we or won't we?

Tomorrow I have another OB appointment. It's been three weeks since I last went it. Baby has done some SERIOUS growing and baby is a mover and shaker! I can't wait to see the sono!

There is a possibility that we will be able to find out what we're having tomorrow. Which is exciting and scary all wrapped up together! We'd be so stinking excited if we're having a girl, yet that scares me! I don't know the first thing about raising a girl after being surrounded by boys for so long! And if we have a boy, I'm ok with that too! At least I won't have to buy a lot of boy clothes!! Just feel bad for my neighbors who are having a boy! I was hoping to get rid of all the boy clothes bins I've got stacked in the garage!

The count down commences!! The nausea is starting to subside, which means, according to the doc, I need to eat more. I've lost four pounds, but I've also gained my belly, and moved on into preggo jeans (which are ten times better than what they were when I was preggo with the boys!).

There's the baby update!! I no longer have to take the progesterone shots which is a blessing! The outside portion of my left leg is numb, still. I was getting big 'ol welts that itched TERRIBLY. The shots themselves began to not hurt and I was ok getting them every day, but the side effects were really getting to me!

I found out today that two more women are pregnant at my church, one with her first and the other with her third, like me! They are about 4-5 weeks behind me now! I think we're going to need some more nursery workers by March of next year!

So there's there update, short and sweet. The nausea is managable, but still really sucks. But it's all good! I go back to the doc not this coming Wednesday, but the following week, so I don't have to go every week now! We'll do another sono to see if we see baby.

If we don't see baby, it's one of two things. It's either an ectopic pregnancy, and we'll probably have to do surgery. Or it's like a pseudo-pregnancy, where I was pregnant and somewhere in the early parts lost the embryo, but my body with the help of the progesterone thinks that it's still pregnant.

I'm praying that we will see baby tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm going to be pretty upset that I'm nauseous for nothing!

Either way, I'm ok with what God will give me. I had just dropped Josh off at school, and was heading home to meet our babysitter to watch Joey for the day. And it dawned on me, "Hey, I'm five days late!" So I got home, decided to take a test. (See pic on left... not the greatest pic, but you can still see the line.)

David was on shift. So I called my sitter and told her to book it! She got to the house, and I said a quick hi and bye to Jo-Jo and ran out the door to the fire department.

David was working on the truck and ran over and yelled, "Hey!" (I think I startled him!) And I gave him the stick and said, "Here we go again!" His reaction was a lot better than I had expected, which made me feel so much better.

So I came to the office, and took a confirmation test. (Once again, see pic on left!) Yup! No denying it! I'm preggo again! I posted it on Facebook and people thought it was an April Fool's joke. Even when I called David's mom and sister, they both thought it was a joke. I called my OB's office (which is FABULOUS! by the way) and they faxed over the lab sheet so I could have my nurse here at my office (which is FABULOUS! by the way) draw my blood. (She doesn't blow veins like other nurses do!!!)

According to conception date (Friday, March 13th) (yes a Friday the 13th... aren't the dates ironic!?) the due date is December 5. However, since I went early with both boys, I'm figuring we'll have baby #3 sometime mid to end of November!

I go on Thursday to my first OB appointment and we'll do a sono since I miscarried before getting pregnant with Jo-Jo and have had some other issues, just to make sure everything is coming along fine. I don't think I'm going to have a low hormone issue like I did with Jo-Jo.

So far, I've been extremely exhausted. But the boys have been good to let me have a couple naps over the weekend. And my appetite has been fierce! It's all good though, David's an excellent cook and I have some great leftovers for when he's not home! Yay food!!

Anyway, so we begin... please be in prayer for us. We are hoping for a little girl this time, but we will be happy as long as baby is healthy! Josh is ecstatic to be a big brother again and Joey... well, I'm not quite sure what Joey thinks about it. All I know is when I told him that I had a baby in my belly, he responds by saying, "Oh no, Momma." But when you ask him where the baby is, he'll point to my belly. And the boys have gotten into the routine of kissing my belly before going to bed at night, which is so sweet that they are excited about it!!

I'll update again after our appointment on Thursday! Blessings!
